  • As well as practicing simple postures that release tension in the hips, back and shoulders, It includes several relaxing moments in restful poses that give the body an opportunity to renew its energy and the mind to de-stress.
  • Restful postures, where your body is supported by a bolster or a rolled blanket so that it can relax and receive rest fully, lower your blood pressure and heart rate and stimulate your the immune system to improve your all round health.
  • They stimulate the parasympathetic nervous system, which is responsible for relaxation; the restorative postures work like a trigger on this system, letting it bring all your response systems back into balance.

Structure of the class

  • We begin with guided meditation to quiet the mind.
  • Practice relaxed, deep breathing techniques.
  • Move through gentle warm ups and light stretching in simple postures.
  • Rest for a while in a sequence of supported postures, using props like bolsters to facilitate their full restorative benefits.
  • And finish in a guided deep relaxation to rejuvenate the body.
