Yoga for Your Lower Back
With Robert Webber, Ph.D.

Tuesdays 9:30 - 11:00am
Saturdays 2:00 - 3:30pm (NEW CLASS!)
Saturdays 2:00 - 3:30pm (NEW CLASS!)
- After stress, lower back pain is the most common reason for workplace absenteeism and the second most common reason for visiting the doctor.
- It's a chronic problem that arises from lifting to much, sitting in the same position, repetitive movements, using computers: all features of modern life.
- The good news is that most lower back problems are muscular in nature, as opposed to neurological where nerves are pinched in serious and jarring injuries.
- Yoga can therefore help the vast majority of lower back suffers.
- Through greater awareness of the lower back and how it relates to other parts of the body, and by understanding the body's own pattern of adaptation to any lower back injury, this class uses simple postures to relieve your problem and let you move pain free.
Yoga for the Shoulders and Upper Back
With Robert Webber, Ph.D.

Thursday 5:30 - 7:00pm from April 8.
- This is a regular drop in class where anyone who has shoulder or upper back tightness or discomfort can enjoy a yoga practice that focuses on these areas.
- The class is also helpful for people with forearm and writ injuries.
- It is all levels friendly and is suitable for both people who are recovering from injuries and people who are injury free but just have tight shoulders or occasional discomfort that they'd like help with.
- In the class we start with gentle movements to awaken awareness of the shoulders and upper back, move through gentle stretches to understand the range of motion that the shoulders move through, look at some of the difficulties that modern work at desks and computers creates for our shoulders, and practice postures, sometimes using props, that help the shoulders to relax, open, and feel spacious.
- This is a good class for people who have taken Yoga Help for the Shoulders, Yoga Help for a Healthy Back, Yoga Help for Working at Your Desk.
- But anyone can join at anytime; no yoga experience is needed.
